An owner can safely check three things: whether the breaker feeding the gate operator is tripped, whether the access control housing has visible water intrusion, and whether the phone line or ethernet cable is physically disconnected at the demarcation point. DoorKing access control units operate at 24 volts but share low-voltage communication lines with the gate operator motor; a miswired relay can send 120 volts back through a control board and destroy it, along with any warranty coverage. The programming sequence for resident codes, time zones, and relay outputs requires the DoorKing software manual for your specific firmware revision, and a factory reset without a backup wipes all resident data.
