We see the most fabrication demand on the 770 because its hydraulic arm puts constant lateral stress on the mounting plate.

Identifying your model: the FAAC label is a metal rivet tag on the motor housing, not a sticker. If the tag is corroded (common within three years in Miami Beach salt air), measure the arm diameter: 400-series arms are 2 inches, 770 arms are 2.75 inches, 844 arms are 2.5 inches with a keyed flat. • Gate arm droops or drifts after reaching the closed position. The welded bracket that holds the FAAC arm to the gate leaf has cracked at the heat-affected zone. In Miami Beach, this accelerates when the bracket was originally welded with standard mild steel instead of a marine-grade alloy.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here, and then there’s the part that requires a ticketed welder. An owner can check: whether the bracket bolts are tight (use a socket, not a visual guess), whether the crack is superficial surface crazing or full penetration, and whether the gate still moves freely by hand with the operator disconnected.
